Weekly News Roundup: Week 52

The sells more units than the ever did

That’s right, the newest hit console from none other than gaming giant has sold more units in its first year than the U did in its entire six year life-span. At the end of 2017 it was recorded that 3,407,158 were sold as opposed to the 3,301,555 Wii U units that were sold from 2012-2016.

And you better bet that number isn’t going to stop rising anytime soon.

Ajit Pai gets rattled

The man behind the most devious bill to be made in recent history has had his cage rattled on Wednesday when he decided not to show up to the CES conference last week due to many death threats he received.

He was originally scheduled to meet with FTC Chairman Maureen Ohlhausman, but it simply was not to be since Pai was receiving multiple death threats to him and his family, no doubt due to the fact that since becoming the FCC Chairman he wants to roll back the net neutrality act which will ensure that ISPs get complete control over their customer’s internet connections.

I’m not going to give an opinion on this, but honestly, who is happy about this bull?

Monster Hunter Elder Dragons

Last week there was a new trailer put out for the highly anticipated Monster Hunter game showcasing two Elder Dragons amongst other monstrosities that will come to the game via a Japanese Livestream.

The trailer, depicted above, showed two dragons. The first being Kushala Daora, a steel dragon who can create windstorms to ward off enemies, the second one being Teostra, a flame dragon which acts as more as a regular dragon breathing fire while living in volcanic areas. Both of these dragons are returning from Monster Hunter 2 on the PS2.

Enchantress in Injustice 2

Though it’s been unanimously confirmed across most fans of the DC universe that Suicide Squad was an utter failure, that doesn’t stop the characters from appearing in other media more favorably looked upon.

In this case, Injustice 2 is getting a new character soon: Enchantress. Above is a trailer depicting several of her ‘enchant’ing moves as well as one of her fatalities in which she uses Deadshot’s own soul to demolish his body.

Mad Katz making a comeback?

Remember last year when Mad Katz, the third party peripheral company we’ve come to know and love over the years, ultimately went bankrupt?

Well, after being purchased by a company in China, they’re coming back, believe it or not. Although, they aren’t exactly going to be producing cheap Nintendo controllers anymore. No, according to Alex Verrey, who previously worked with Mad Katz and now does PR for them, has said that this will be the start of a newer and ‘humbler’ Mad Katz as they will be going for the higher end of the market with gaming mice and keyboards, some of which are being showed off at CES in Vegas later this month.

They’re also planning on eventually announcing more products for consoles in the future, but for now we can just revel in the fact that our favorite ‘knockoff’ company is back in business.

So

That’s the major gaming news for the week!
