So I did a little experiment where I went to the Steam Store and typed in the word “simulator”. Just to see what would come up.
I took a look at the obvious and most well known choices of the bunch, Train Simulator, Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, Tabletop Simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator of course, Goat Simulator, Shower With Your Dad Simulator (Ok maybe not those last couple) but you get the point.
Now, whats interesting about all these games is that they are all (most of them) trying to simulate something, an experience if you will. But all these games are based around tech that we’ve been experiencing for years now, sure maybe they’ve gotten a bit more advanced with graphics and maybe some new mechanics, but the game I’m about to share with you I think could be the pinnacle.
Sailaway Sailing Simulator, a game coming to you April 2017.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sail the seven seas with all the experience but none of the actual being there?
Me neither, I get very seasick.
No, but seriously, this game looks like it’s going to be amazing. It apparently just started off as a project to see if they could make something to attempt to simulate controlling a sailboat by changing the direction of the sails using artificial data of wind, but it turned into a “passion project” as they put it where now they are building this to actually be able to take you around the world’s major oceans allowing you to control the sailboat like you would a real one. They are having it gather real-time data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to simulate the wind and the waves and depth of the oceans so that everything can be as realistic as possible in a constant online world where you can run into others who are sailing and can set up races and socialize with many different activities.
Continue on to see the trailer for this super realistic simulator.
