With Mortal Kombat X just over a month away from taking over my entire life, a new and long deserved punishment is coming to the surface. Quitters, I suggest reading on for the sake of making me smile at your unavoidable fate—introducing Quitalities.
Every fan of the Mortal Kombat series knows the frustration of enduring the world’s worst spike in lag in the midst of a nightmarish matchup with every odd stacked against you. If you’re one of those before mentioned quitters, I invite you to slam on a quit screen and pout like children as your virtual loss turns to TTS (Temperamental Troll Syndrome). Mortal Kombat X is ensuring that you take the time to learn your lesson, and I couldn’t be more excited for this hilarious demise.
This raging display of immaturity is so common in my online experience across every game. Some games choose to make the quitter wait before replaying, but what good does that do if the other players have a lesser experience thanks to one a*****e?
Finally, Mortal Kombat X delivers a punishment to quitters that isn’t just a slap on the wrist for the quitting party. It’s a visceral explosion of the quitter’s head, launched skyward in celebration for the dominating victor as they stand and bask in the glory of a quick win. All while the quitter chokes down a few tears. Did I mention they make the quitter observe his own demise before ending the match? Personally I would rather finish you myself, but if you’d prefer the shame of a spineless loss, meh.
But this is exactly what we long for as longtime fans of Mortal Kombat, isn’t it? Watching the most cowardly opponents erupting in a perfect display of quitter carnage while we throw our heads back laughing.
Cue the introduction of players commonly sharing their favorite Quitality experiences—if you aren’t sharing these video clips as you play, it’s robbing the world of one less laugh at a quitter.
